Trustees
S4A has moved over to a board of Trustees as of October 2025. At the time of writing, the board consists of Paul Shelley, Mark Swanson, Axel Roest and David Peterson.
Carl Peto has stepped down from ownership of S4A, he will remain in an advisory role but will not be responsible for the direction of the organisation or running.
The board holds the official rights to the brand and name, the direction and legacy of the project, plus the rights to any proprietary source code (mostly this is just the source code for the IDE).
Note that most of the code, such as community code and the compiler technology underlying the IDE, is open source and licensed appropriately.
Whilst the Mac App Store App (the "S4A IDE") is being supported/maintained on the App Store, the trustees will be responsible for appointing the "owner" of the App Store app, who is responsible for the app, for maintenance and updates, App Store app support and who receives revenue from subscriptions. At the time of writing, after the first meeting, this is Paul Shelley.
If you have any questions regarding ownership and/or governance, please contact us at swiftforarduino@gmail.com and we will be happy to help.
